Jacqueline Shoemaker

Jacqueline “Jackie” Paige Shoemaker, 82, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at UVA Medical Center.

She was born on May 8, 1943, in Harrisonburg, VA to the late Lloyd D. Knicely Sr. and Margaret “Peggy” L. Knicely. On October 23, 1982, she married John “Jay” Robert Shoemaker, who preceded her in death on June 19, 2022.

She is also preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Knicely of Rockingham, VA, whose wife, Penny Knicely, survives him. She is survived by her brother, L. David Knicely Jr. and wife Emma Lou, of Winchester, VA; a sister, Patsy Campbell of Harrisonburg, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins.

Jackie graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1961. She enjoyed attending her class reunions and class dinners. Jackie was a hairdresser for about 40 years. She owned and operated Shenandoah Beauty Salon in downtown Harrisonburg. She was an avid golfer. One of Jackie and Jay’s favorite places to play golf was Lakeview Golf Course where they met. They loved to travel, especially after they retired. One of their favorite places to vacation and play golf was Myrtle Beach, SC, they visited there numerous times over the years.

The Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at McMullen Funeral Home.

Pastor Drew Ridder will conduct a graveside service on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:00 am and a memorial service at 11:00 am at Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church.

Following the services refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridgewater Rescue Squad, 10 Volunteer Drive, Bridgewater, VA 22812 or Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church, 372 Kyles Mill Road, Mt. Solon, VA 22843.
