Eunice I. Dean, 94

            Eunice Irene Myers Dean, 94, a resident of Harrisonburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at her home.

            Mrs. Dean was born on May 1, 1917, in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Luther Amos and Lenora Willie Forbes Myers.  She spent most of her life in Harrisonburg. She was gifted in quilting and sewing and enjoyed reading, and cooking.  Mrs. Dean loved going to the beach with her family and spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Greenmount Church of the Brethren.

            On January 15, 1940, she married John Ritchie (J.R.) Dean who preceded her in death on June 12, 1999.

            Surviving are two children, Richard Wayne Dean and wife Norma Heath of Wilmington, North Carolina; Ronald Myers Dean and wife Barbara Jackson of Richmond; three sisters, Geneva Craun of Bridgewater; Thelma Craun and Nancy Wright both of Harrisonburg; a brother, Gerald Myers and Julie of Harrisonburg; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Tootie) Myers of Harrisonburg; five grandsons, Matthew Wayne Dean, Gregory Heath Dean, Morgan Graham Dean, Justin York Dean, Jeffery Clark Dean, and eleven great grandchildren.

            Pastor Ken Dolan will conduct a memorial service at Greenmount Church of the Brethren on Friday morning, January 13, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

            Friends and family may call at the McMullen Funeral Home at anytime.

            The casket will be closed.
