Blanche V. Martin, 88

Harrisonburg

Blanche Virginia Martin, 88,  Harrisonburg, died December 27, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Martin was born on March 5, 1923, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Daniel Coakley and Mary Etta Jones Knicely.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.

On May 12, 1948, she married Oscar Jay Martin who preceded her in death on June 10, 1990.

Surviving are two daughters, Ellen M. Horst and husband David; Mary A. Martin, all of Harrisonburg; two sons, Roy L. Martin and wife Lois; and Richard A. Martin and wife Bernice all of Harrisonburg; one sister, Louella Wenger, Harrisonburg; two brothers, Amos Knicely and wife Anna, Dayton; Howard Knicely and wife Arlene, Harrisonburg and nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by six sisters, Pauline Horst, Marie Rohrer, Ethel Rohrer, Alice Knicely, Reba Shank, Martha Shirk, and two brothers, Marvin Knicely and David Knicely.

A funeral service will be held Thursday morning, December 29, 2011 at 10a.m. at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church with the Ministers of the Church officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The body has been taken to her home, 556 Muddy Creek Road, Harrisonburg where friends may call until 8p.m. this evening.
