Zona Marie Berkshire, 85

Zona Marie Berkshire, 85, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Berkshire was born on October 19, 1926 in Davidsville, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late Jacob Earl and Barbara Yoder Thomas. She was a homemaker known for her baking and sewing abilities, a volunteer for Gift and Thrift and attended the Bible Study Fellowship. She was a member of Weavers Mennonite Church.

On June 17, 1950 she married Glen W. Berkshire who survives.

Also surviving are three children, W. Allen Berkshire and wife Diana of Harrisonburg, Glenda Strong and husband David of Lancaster, Pa., Denise Sauder and her husband the late John Sauder, a sister, Twila Hill of Florida, ten grandchildren, Allison Chupp, Abigail Price, Audrey Jackson, Anna Berkshire, Erica Mancuso, Jessica Bloxom, Sabrina Strong, Dana Sauder, Ashley Miller, Derek Sauder, and ten great grandchildren.

Mrs. Berkshire was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Thomas, Delmar Thomas, and a sister, Beulah Sakon.

Reverend Phil Kanagy will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Weavers Mennonite Church. Burial will be held at Weavers Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
